Bridal Spotlight: Meet Our First bebe Bride!

•May 2, 2012 • Leave a Comment

We’re thrilled to introduce to you Stacey Smith Vince, the first bride to dazzle in a Rami Kashou for bebe wedding gown! Stacey fell in love with Rami’s Drape Top Lace Mermaid Wedding Dress at our bebe bridal launch party on Rodeo Drive. Fast-forward just 10 days, and Stacey walked down the aisle in stunning style at a gorgeous Malibu wedding on Easter Day.

Stacey was kind enough to fit a quick Q&A with us into her busy newlywed schedule. Read on to hear all about her bebe bridal experience!

Which Rami Kashou for bebe wedding dress is your fave?

Photography by Lauren Ross

STYLUST: What was your experience like shopping for your bridal gown at bebe Rodeo Drive?

STACEY: My experience was nothing short of spectacular! The women at the store were so supportive and cheerful. There was the bonus of Vito from the upstairs salon, who quickly came down and created a look for my hair that was fantastic. He did it all with a comb, some hairspray and a few bobby pins in about four minutes! He was so fun and creative! I ended up copying that same look for my wedding day.

STYLUST: What was it like meeting Rami?

STACEY: Meeting Rami made my experience unforgettable! He did not try to push anything on me. He was patient, excited and genuinely interested in what looked the best. He was not afraid to tell me the truth. He expressed that his goal was for the dress to make the bride shine, not the reverse. His designs were to work with the bride, not to hang on her. He truly is a dynamic, creative and talented man. We had FUN with it! I am more than honored to be the first bride to wear his bebe bridal design. Thanks, Rami! You are a rock star!

STYLUST: Which Rami Kashou for bebe bridal gown did you choose, and what made you fall in love with it?

STACEY: I fell in love with the mermaid lace dress. It was simply elegant and sophisticated. I loved his brilliant use of the different materials. I loved the twisted chiffon near my face creating a softer look. It was complemented by an underlying satin and overlying lace for the rest of the dress, which gave it the sleek, sexy mermaid look. It was far more interesting than the usage of one material for this design. I am usually not a lace girl, but this really worked! I was pleasantly surprised. It was heavier than I had anticipated, but I loved that as it made the dress feel structured and substantial.

STYLUST: How did you feel about the fit and quality of your bridal gown?

STACEY: Without a doubt, I put it on and it felt like magic and top quality. I was so proud to wear it! There was no doubt that THIS WAS THE ONE!

Photography by Lauren Ross

STYLUST: What type of wedding did you have, and how did your bridal gown fit the location?

STACEY: Ironically, this dress could fit any location. I thought it would be best for a church wedding, but we were married at our home in Malibu, just above the ocean. Thus, the mermaid dress worked perfectly in look and feel even for our outdoor Easter day wedding!

STYLUST: Which bebe dress did your bridesmaid choose and why?

STACEY: My sister-in-law chose the champagne ruffle dress for the bridesmaid dress. The minute I saw it, I thought it was perfect. The color was so rich, and I loved the sophisticated design. Structured, yet sassy—it was the perfect fit! She looked drop-dead gorgeous in it. It was so flattering!

Q&A: Emily of Once Wed Talks Wedding Tips & Tricks

•April 30, 2012 • 2 Comments

This week we’ve got more fab advice for our bebe brides-to-be, straight from the founder and editor of Once Wed, Emily Newman! Emily’s breathtaking blog is filled with amazing inspiration from real weddings, so we knew we could count on her for creative answers to some of our most pressing questions. From choosing a meaningful location to making the cake “you,” Emily has the lowdown on everything wedding.

Ready to start planning your gorgeous big day?

Photography by Jose Villa

STYLUST: Do you have any tips on picking a special and unique wedding location?

EMILY: When it comes to picking a special and unique place to celebrate your special day, it really just comes down to what is special and unique to you as a couple. A special place, venue or restaurant—places that are individually important to you and your fiancé usually make for the most special and unique of wedding venues. Always make sure to ask if a place hosts weddings. You might assume that locations and venues that are special and meaningful to you wouldn’t host a wedding. But always ask as these locations usually end up being the perfect wedding spots, and the venues are usually open to the idea of hosting.

STYLUST: What should be the most important thing on a bride-to-be’s beauty/health checklist to be radiant on her big day?

EMILY: Great skin by far and away is priority number one for any bride-to-be’s beauty regimen. Feeling comfortable in your skin is not just a saying, it’s a wedding day must! Every bride wants to feel beautiful, comfortable and perfectly photogenic, and it starts with the skin. Drinking lots of water and eating healthy are crucial during those stressful days leading up to the big day.

STYLUST: What are some stunning bouquets that won’t break the bank?

EMILY: Getting creative while also thinking simply are the best ways to avoid breaking the bank when it comes to any wedding detail. When it comes to bouquet arrangements, single stem bouquets are the best way to go. You can make a big and beautiful statement by carrying a single stem bouquet such as a large Magnolia flower or King Protea.

STYLUST: What are some thoughtful bridal party gift ideas?

EMILY: As any bride knows, the backbone to a bride’s special day is her bridal party, and therefore it’s crucial that the bridal party gift be thoughtful and somewhat personal. I think the best way to say thanks and show your love is by giving a gift that all the girls can enjoy together. Taking everyone to get a treatment at the spa on the morning before the big day is the perfect way to treat the ladies you love while also spending some quality time with them. It’s certainly a win-win situation!

Photography by Jose Villa

STYLUST: What are some cool ways to personalize a wedding cake?

EMILY: Once Wed is a big fan of fresh flowers, and a unique way to add a personal touch to your special day is to garnish your wedding cake with a favorite flower. It adds a natural and personal touch to an already beautiful cake.

STYLUST: Any last wedding tips or tricks you’d like to share with our readers?

EMILY: Choose an amazing photographer! The images captured from your wedding day are yours forever, so spend a little more and get the photographer that really suits your needs. You’ll be so happy in 5 to 10 to 20 years when you look back and still love all of the timeless images and happily remember each and every lovely moment.

Styling Tips: Jolyn Shows 5 Hot Ways to Rock Rompers

•April 27, 2012 • 2 Comments

Summer is the perfect season to take a dip in fashion’s current romper trend, especially with styles that flaunt a little skin. But how to accessorize these unconventional one-pieces? Surprise, surprise—they’re totally versatile, as our go-to area manager and stylist extraordinaire Jolyn reveals!

“While I realize it’s not a look for everyone and is a tad more complicated to put on and definitely not for those who are shy about showing some leg, the romper is a must-try for summer,” says Jolyn. “So here’s what I say to the naysayers: don’t knock it until you try it (or at least read this post).”

TRIBAL DONE BRIGHT

WHY SHE LOVES IT>> “Tribal-inspired prints and jewelry are a huge trend for warming weather. Don’t shy away from prints! Not only are they a fun way to mix up a summer outfit, they also add fun pops of color to your look. When it comes to accessories, go bold or go home. This gold choker is an assertive statement piece, and when paired with these chunky coral and gold wedges, a Southwest desert look has never been so sexy.”

GET THE LOOK>> Aztec Print Romper, Oversized Solid Choker Necklace (SKU 192044, $34, currently not available on bebe.com, but check your local bebe store), Isabel Mirror Metallic Wedge Sandal

HOT & HALTERED

WHY SHE LOVES IT>> “I love this look for so many reasons, so here are just a few: the pop of aqua in these sexy sandals pairs perfectly with the aqua hue of the romper, the halter is cut low but not too low, the belt adds extra detail that flatters the waist…need I go on? My outfit love affair continues with these aqua chain duster earrings and this white woven clutch, so choose your destination carefully, ladies, because this outfit deserves to be worn to a place that does it justice.”

GET THE LOOK>> Self Sash Halter Romper, Stud Hoop & Duster Earring Set, Multi Woven Envelope Clutch, Kiara Patent Colorblock Sandal

TROPICAL TEASE

WHY SHE LOVES IT>> “The cinching detail on the waist and sleeves of this look makes the romper even more versatile than at first glance. It can be worn off the shoulder, as shown, and with or without a belt since the ruching already accents the waist. The versatility continues as this look can be dressed up or down. With this wide-brimmed straw hat, embellished cork wedges and blingy bangles, I’m thinking a day of fun in the sun with a fruity cocktail (complete with mini umbrella) in hand.”

GET THE LOOK>> Off Shoulder Printed Romper, Metallic Beach Hat, Multi Chain & Crystal Encrusted Bangle Set, Caitlyn Studded Wedge Sandal

COLOR ME BOLD

WHY SHE LOVES IT>> “Nothing is hotter than a tank romper in such a sizzling color. It can be even more sizzling should you decide to undo the front clasps for a deeper plunging neckline…but I digress. Such a hot look is not exempt from needing a little help from a few accessories, but aside with these rhinestone-encrusted shades to shield your eyes from the sun, a studded crossbody canvas tote, a gold chain belt and matching wedges, all you’re going to need is some SPF 30 before you’re good to go.”

GET THE LOOK>> Low Neck Romper (SKU 196155, $98, currently not available on bebe.com, but check your local bebe store), Cuddle Cupid Square Frame Sunglasses, Linen Stud Crossbody, Skinny Knot Chain Belt (SKU 195707, $39, currently not available on bebe.com, but check your local bebe store), Kelly Strappy Sandal Wedge (SKU 193877, $129, currently not available on bebe.com, but check your local bebe store)

GET SHIRTY

WHY SHE LOVES IT>> “Yet another controversy about the romper is that it’s not made for those who are shy about showing some skin. False! This 3/4 sleeve button-up romper is the perfect option for those who want to have a one-to-one ratio of skin to clothing. The collar and front pockets add some sophistication to this look, while the stone-detailed belt and coordinating clutch add some fun. What do the printed espadrilles add, you might ask? Amazingness.”

GET THE LOOK>> Soft Short Sleeve Shirt Romper, Multi Stone Stretch Belt (SKU 195704, $44, currently not available on bebe.com, but check your local bebe store), Metallic Raffia Minaudiere, Charissa Print Scarf Wedge Sandal

Trend Report: Accessories You Need Right Now

•April 25, 2012 • 1 Comment

From chic sunnies to exotic carryalls to platforms with heavy-metal edge, we’ve compiled three of our fave accessories trends you need in your wardrobe this season!

SUNNY & CHIC

WHY WE LOVE IT>> At some point in the season you begin to realize the asphalt at the shopping center is just short of blinding you. Not to worry, chic sunnies to the rescue! We’re totally obsessed with retro-cool round, cat eye and aviator frames.

HOW TO ROCK IT>> Round and colored frames look gorg poolside with crochet and daring swimwear. We like to style our cat eye frames with peplum and bodycon dresses. (Ya know? For the sex-kitten vibe?) And last but not least, let’s not forget the timelessly luxe aviators. They look just as cool tossed on with our wear-to-work attire as they do with our off-duty pieces.

CLUTCH CONTROL

WHY WE LOVE IT>> We love clutches with an animal print; they texturize any outfit and give it a little pop. And if it weren’t for their tiny size we’d wear them around the clock—a problem easily fixed by making them chicer and bigger! Enter our new carryall…

HOW TO ROCK IT>> Animal print gives any casual look a quick update and travels easily from the office to happy hour. Studs are glam enough for the dance floor and tame enough to go on a dinner date.

WALK IT OFF

WHY WE LOVE IT>> Minimalist black is the ruler of versatility, and metallics take any outfit from cute to wow in a snap. Combined they are invincible!

HOW TO ROCK IT>> Strappy sandals are sexy and go with just about anything. They especially elevate off-duty go-tos like denim. They also look great with citrus hues and pastels and give day dresses a powerful edge. BONUS: the platform adds two of our fave things, height and comfort.
