Styling Tips: 4 March Madness Outfits That Are Total Fabness
This week, our go-to area manager and stylist Jolyn is back with four fun, colorful outfits to score unbeatable March Madness style!
March Madness to me, from a fashion perspective, can be…well…maddening. While I’m ALL about being a raving fan and supporting your team, I just wish that team-spirited women’s wear was made for the fashionista!
Well, today I’m here to demonstrate why you needn’t be stuck with a T-shirt and hooded sweatshirt to show your team loyalty. No matter what team you root for (and yes, “Team Beverly Hills Housewives” is a team), hopefully this post will help you think outside the box in regards to being a raving fan fashionista and, if anything, make March Madness a little less crazy making. With that said, here are four looks to support some of my personal fashion picks and wins from the oh-so-sweet 16:
Shop: Pleated Knit Bodysuit, Westwood Leather Crossbody, skirt, shoe and necklace are sold out online but you can try Perforated Leather Flounce Skirt, Rectangular Chainlink & Crystal Necklace, Bianca Pointy T-Strap Platform Pump
DUKE VS. MICHIGAN STATE (JOLYN’S PICK: DUKE)>> Nothing says you’re a Blue Devil better than (what else?) wearing blue! Duke blue to be exact! This “Duke” blue ruched-neck bodysuit paired with this white leather mini says you’re not only a Duke fan but a sophisticated one at that. The crossbody purse with gold chain strap and necklace complete your polished look, so while, yes, most sporting events involve beer (and lots of it), if you’re going to class up any March Madness party, not only do I suggest switching from beer to wine but wearing a look that shows you’ve brought your “A” game.
Shop: 3/4 Sleeve Shawl Collar Crop Jacket, Hammered Metal & Stone Tribal Necklace, Interlocked Clasp Bracelet, India Metallic Leather Sandal, the dress is sold out online but you can try Drop Waist Pleated Silk Dress
OREGON VS. LOUISVILLE (JOLYN’S PICK: OREGON)>> Take it from me, living in Oregon amongst a bevy of Oregon Duck fans sometimes is not easy on the eyes. There are many, many, many “Duck” looks gone wrong. And while, yes, Oregon’s colors are green and yellow, no matter what your team colors are, I encourage all fans to keep in mind that there are different shades of all colors (including grey) that can represent your team and/or Bravo network show (see my intro if you’re confused). While I’m a big fan of mixing bold colors (just check out my Miami outfit), I implore you, ladies, keep the shades and tones of your colors in mind! Pastel pink tends to look best, for example, with other pastel colors; neon green with neon blue…you get where I’m going with this. This look, for example, pairs bright yellow with bright green (not with neon green, or mint green, or forest green, BRIGHT green), not to mention some amazing accessories. In short, stay within your color wheel, and regardless of whether you’re a sports fan, a fashion fan or both, this advice will keep you a winner.
Shop: Perforated Contrast Leather Bomber Jacket, Icon Cuffed Crop Jean, India Metallic Leather Sandal, Chain & Metal Bar Toggle Long Necklace, top is sold out online but you can try Twisted Hemline Blouse
MIAMI VS. MARQUETTE (JOLYN’S PICK: MIAMI)>> Miami fans are definitely ones to stand out in a crowd, and what better way to overcome your fear of pairing bold colors than by being a Miami fan? The key here is to mix Miami’s green, orange and white in a way that says you’re a fashion fan without being visually overwhelming (and distracting) to what I’m sure will be a game-captive audience. When teaming any bold colors, my advice is this: bring in a neutral piece to balance the look out. The perforated white leather bomber in this look does just that, breaking up some of the boldness without taking away from the pops of color of the green cropped denim and orange top. So while I’m not usually the betting type, not only will I put my money on Miami but on you and this look stopping Marquette in their tracks.
FLORIDA VS. FLORIDA GULF COAST (JOLYN’S PICK: FLORIDA)>> Be loud and proud, Florida fans, because this team’s color combo is not for the shy. This blue mini says you’re ready to party and cheer for a win, but on a practical side, it’s very figure flattering and, if you insist, can be toned down and quite versatile. That aside, the skirt paired with this open-back orange top, half tucked in, is a look that says you’re put together but not “uptight” and ready to cheer your team on to a win. Gold accessories keep this outfit looking extra “Florida” as gold has a tendency to warm up any look. So if Florida does as great this weekend as you’ll look in this outfit, they’re going to be, in appropriate Florida style, H-O-T.
