Model Moment: Meet Courtney Hope Turner
Who are those gorgeous girls we see rocking the clothes on bebe.com? We wanted to get to know them (and thought you might want to too), so we’ve started a “Model Moment” feature on STYLUST. This month, meet Courtney Hope Turner, who’s all over our site right now!
STYLUST: How did you start modeling?
Courtney: I started modeling in South Carolina when I was 17 in little boutiques in my area. Someone discovered me through that and took me to New York where I spent some time interviewing with agencies. It was hilarious because on top of being this 17-year-old girl from a small town, I had completely lost my voice at the time. So I’m whisper interviewing with this agency with this little voice. They ended up liking my look anyway, and I ended up signing with Elite in Atlanta.
STYLUST: How do you like Los Angeles?
Courtney: I love it! Los Angeles is the perfect place for me. Everything about it is like “Courtney Land.” It’s a leap of faith. I think everyone should move to a big city.
STYLUST: What are some of your favorite places in LA?
Courtney: Definitely the beach! The beach is my happy place. I also really like going to really high places, like going hiking to overlook the city. Other places I like to go to are comedy shows! I always have a fun time going out and laughing with friends.
STYLUST: How would you describe your personal style?
Courtney: Sexy but classy. I’m also very outdoorsy, so I like the rugged look too.
STYLUST: Describe a perfect weekend outfit.
Courtney: I love skinny jeans with a very high-heeled boot and a comfortable lacy blouse.
STYLUST: What do you love most about modeling?
Courtney: There is so much creativity and art that goes into it. You’re always meeting new people. It’s definitely fun to be on this side of the camera.
STYLUST: What is something most people don’t know about you?
Courtney: I’m actually a black belt in martial arts. So watch out, guys!
STYLUST: What do you like to do to stay fit?
Courtney: Going to the gym is not my favorite thing to do, so I like doing sports. I’ve played sports my whole life, so I’m drawn to things like going to the beach to play volleyball, running, taking a boxing class outside…just anything that keeps it different and fun.
STYLUST: Do you have any parting advice for aspiring models?
Courtney: You know, this was always a dream of mine. I never really thought it was possible as a kid to be a model one day, but I really worked hard at it. I studied on my own, either by watching YouTube videos of runway shows or just looking at magazines and practicing poses. If you really want to be a model, try it and put it out there.
