Styling Tips: Jolyn Creates 4 Winter-to-Spring Looks

How to get the most out of your wardrobe? Rock your sexy staple pieces year round! Our area manager for the Pacific Northwest, Jolyn, is back to show us four looks that easily transition from the chilly weather right now to the sunny days ahead.

1. DESTINATION: THE WINDOW DESK

THE STAPLE ITEMS >> Peplum Knit Pencil Skirt (195004, $69, not available online, but check your nearest bebe), Colorblock Peplum Top (192264, $59, not available online, but check your nearest bebe)

THE LAYERING ITEMS >> Emma Abigail Long Sleeve Jacket (191837, $159, not available online, but check your nearest bebe), Wide Waistband Seamless Legging (167998, $34, not available online, but check your nearest bebe)

THE ACCESSORIES >> Overlapping Hammered Necklace (193633, $29), Quilted Chain Shoulder Bag (190396, $89), Zahara Leather Slingback Platform Sandal (112687, $149)

JOLYN’S TIPS >> “Are you a career woman who has to dress the part? If so, I completely understand that wear-to-work outfits can be frustrating to transition between seasons. Why is it that when it’s cold outside office temperatures heat up, and when it’s hot outside it’s like an icicle in your office?

“If you work in a place where the climate control is a little bipolar, it’s all about the removable layers. This outfit, for example, looks warm and wintry paired with tights and a blazer but can easily be transitioned into an outfit that’s cool and springy.

“While some might interpret removing layers as an inappropriate solution to warming temperatures in a professional environment, just keep in mind that it’s what’s under those layers that counts. If you wouldn’t wear it to work without the blazer or tights, you may need to rethink your layers.”

2. DESTINATION: FARMERS’ MARKET SHOPPING

THE STAPLE ITEMS >> Signature Stretch Skinny Jean (183113, $89), Skinny Strappy Racerback Tank (195037, $44)

THE LAYERING ITEMS >> Asymmetrical Leatherette Jacket (175762, $98), Chiffon Detail Button Front Dolman Top (195039, $59)

THE ACCESSORIES >> Chevron Straw Fedora (190199, $29), Quilted Chain Satchel (190394, $129), Heart Pendant Locket Watch Necklace (192124, $49), Quilted Chain Satchel (190395 $109), Nadine Leather & Snake Print Platform Pump (190400, $149)

JOLYN’S TIPS >> “The cardigan is the spring version of the winter bomber jacket (both of which should be staple items in your wardrobe). Lighter layering pieces with pops of colored accessories like this quilted red tote and heart watch locket say you’re spring ready. Detail your skinny denim by cuffing it for an extra ‘pop’ of spring in your step.

“While winter looks definitely can involve pops of color, if you want to keep your outfit more understated, add accessories that are neutral but still fun. This fedora is the perfect way to incorporate a cold weather look with the spring trend of nautical stripes.”

3. DESTINATION: DATE NIGHT

THE STAPLE ITEM >> Rory Colorblock Strapless Dress (189751, $159)

THE LAYERING ITEM >> Lace Trench Coat (164402, $159)

THE ACCESSORIES >> Bow Veil Headband (192089, $22, not available online, but check your nearest bebe), Ruffle Frame Clutch (185839, $49)

JOLYN’S TIPS >> “Yes, cold weather is not the biggest motivator for showing some leg, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be sexy and glam. (VERY IMPORTANT: showing more skin doesn’t always mean sexy.) This two-toned satin dress is equally flirty with or without tights, but pairing it with a lace trench makes it much more winter appropriate and European glam.

“I’m also in LOVE with this netted bow headband—can you say ‘très Kate Middleton chic’?! Just add flirty floral accessories such as this textured clutch for a playful touch of spring.”

4. DESTINATION: OUT WITH THE GIRLS

THE STAPLE ITEMS >> High Waisted Hot Short (174714, $89, not available online, but check your nearest bebe), Kimono Sleeve Chiffon Blouse (192025, $69)

THE LAYERING ITEM >> Lace Cinched Bandeau (188088, $16)

THE ACCESSORIES >> Quilted Chain Tote (190394, $129), Chainmail Tiered Clutch (190446, $39), Felt Chain Floppy Hat (185880, $39), Rhinestone Chain Headband (187413, $16, not available online, but check your nearest bebe)

JOLYN’S TIPS >> “Shorts: the winter fashionista’s faux friend. Or are they? While many stray from shorts in the winter months, tights, again, are the perfect solution to take this weekend look up a few degrees. This felt floppy hat paired with gold accessories compliments this look, and you’re suddenly ‘the girl who can pull off shorts in the winter.’

“Pairing the same satin shorts and red sheer silk top with a bandeau versus a cami says you’re ready for some fun in the sun. Accessories like this sequin crossbody and headband keep the look feeling light and bright.”
