bebe TV: Extra’s Adrianna Costa Talks Nutrition, Fitness and BEBE SPORT

One of our fave Extra TV hosts, Adrianna Costa, just visited bebe for a BEBE SPORT photo shoot! We were thrilled to hang with her and steal her fitness advice to get 2012 started right:

Plus, this week we’ve teamed with LUNA bar to bring you 10 nutrition tips for the new year! Don’t worry about trying all 10 tips at once, though. Since you have all year, why not work your way down the list and try something new every month?

1. “Savor the moment. Rediscover the tastes, flavors, aromas and enjoyment of food. Pamper yourself by using the ‘nice’ dishes, flowers or candles at the table. And enjoy dinner with a friend—the conversation will slow you down.”

2. “Spice up your life. Eat a colorful variety of foods with various tastes and textures. Not only does it make food more fun, it also helps ensure you cover your vitamin and mineral bases with a balanced eating plan.”

3. “Write it down. Keep a food log or diary to make it easy to see if you’re on track. Are you snacking too often on the wrong things? Are you getting enough veggies each day? Look back on your notes to find patterns, and then solutions, to your eating routine.”

4. “Get educated. The “Nutrition Facts” label on packages can be a useful tool if you know what to look for and how to decipher it. Check out “Deciphering the Food Label,” where we outline the tools you need to easily make healthy food choices.”

5. “Diets are dead. Gone are the days of cutting entire foods groups, like bread or nuts. Cutting foods out completely only leads you to crave them more. You should include your favorite foods in moderation, along with healthy selections of fruits, grains and veggies. An excellent guide is the USDA’s MyPlate.”

6. “Munch a bunch. Eating small, frequent meals throughout the day provides your body with a steady stream of nutrients and makes portion control a snap.”

7. “Get moving. Good nutrition is only one important step to a healthy lifestyle. Regular exercise, reducing stress, annual health exams and monthly breast self-exams play important roles in achieving optimum health.”

8. “Plan ahead. Knowing what you are going to eat in advance guides your food choices and keeps you on track. If you pack your own lunch, you control your portion sizes and save money too!”

9. “Drink more water. Your body is mostly made up of water and needs more fluid to move nutrients around, cushion your joints and feel good! Try to drink at least eight eight-ounce glasses of water daily.”

10. “Moderation, not deprivation. Eating small servings of all foods will keep you from feeling deprived. So say yes to that piece of chocolate cake today! Just not every day. Allow yourself to have small servings of those decadent treats you crave.”
