Style Icon: Rooney Mara
Rooney Mara took us by surprise with her tough role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but what really impressed us was her ability to mix edge with elegance. From her hot red pout to her bowl-cut bangs to her love for avant-garde cutouts, she has a bad-girl pretty we’re head over heels for. Here are four day and evening looks that have us totally inspired.
TOUGH GIRL COOL
WHY WE LOVE IT>> It’s sheer and it has texture. There’s something about showing just enough skin that makes these two looks sexy and edgy but still very soft and feminine. Plus, check out her killer abs!
HOW TO ROCK IT>> Day: Pair a sheer black top with black skinny jeans and balance it out with a glossy neutral heel. Sheer Cami Blouse (192006, $79), Icon Bling Skinny Jean (188045, $119), Mercedes Beaded Satin Pump (188697, $159) Night: Go for a cocktail dress with chiffon ruffles to sweeten up edgy cutouts and complete it with a shiny peep-toe heel. Double Cowl Mesh Cutout Dress (188406, $129), Luella Satin Bow Sandal (185800, $129)
SEEN AT>> Rodarte Spring 2012 fashion show (Charles Eshelman/Getty), New York premiere of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Larry Busacca/Getty)
SWEET GIRL TOUCH
WHY WE LOVE IT>> Both these looks are delicate and romantic. The girly pleating, the intricate beading and minimal but definitely chic sandals have us swooning.
HOW TO ROCK IT>> Day: Go for a soft pink, plunging neckline and pleated skirt. Finish your outfit with a strappy sandal and an edgy lip color. Two Tone Deep V Dress (176535, $149), Fleur Leather Strappy Platform Sandal (187735, $129) Night: Opt for a high neckline but counterbalance with unexpected cutouts and a figure-sculpting silhouette. Texture Sequin Cutout Dress (179035, $169), Helena Embellished Heel Satin Pump (188693, $139)
SEEN AT>> 8th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in Soho (D. Dipasupil/Getty) , world premiere of The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo (Dave Hogan/Getty)
