Vanessa splits her time between Vancouver, Beijing and New York, giving her major industry cred and an eclectic, über-chic style. Her blog The Haute Pursuit inspires us with charming shorts looks, slouchy sweaters, bad-girl leather and accessories that walk a surprising line between classic and rocker chic.
(1) SHORT STORY: Vanessa knows exactly how to work a thigh-baring short, high waisted or otherwise. Notice how she goes for something boxy on top, like a cropped jacket, strong-shouldered blazer or long, loose sweater? Très runway!
(2) KNIT GIRL: Why not snuggle up in a chunky cable pullover or an oversized cardi? Vanessa keeps her knit looks playfully sexy by adding bright skinnies or shorts. Comfy and totally smokin’: always a win for us!
(3) LEATHER LUST: Whether a jacket or leggings, leather pieces play starring roles in Vanessa’s wardrobe. We’re crazy for the way they add a punk punch to her more relaxed ensembles. But she’s not afraid to get tough from head to toe with multiple leather pieces and with wild animal print or pointy metallic heels.

I love combining leather with knit because they are two totally contrasting fabrics and textures. One is smooth and shiny the other course thick and (sometimes) soft. My favorite look is the 2nd one on the bottom, definitely something i would wear.
