Mixmaster: Meet 2/3 of THE MISSHAPES + Peek Our Runway Show Playlist

Call us biased, but one of the coolest elements of our Spring 2012 runway show, (aside from what came down the catwalk, of course!) was the gorgeous dark duo on the turn tables—Leigh Lezark and Geordon Nicol—2/3 of New York-based DJ trio THE MISSHAPES. Before the show, we sat down with the mixmasters to get the deets on everything from where they get their inspiration to what tracks are topping their personal playlists for fall. Our two cents? Forget plugging into Pandora and try these tracks out, like stat!

What’s topping YOUR personal playlist right now?

STYLUST: What tracks made the final Spring 2012 runway playlist?

1. Charlotte Gainsbourg – “Terrible Angels”

2. Little Dragon – “Crystalfilm”

3. David Bowie – “Sound and Vision”

4. Cults – “Never Heal Myself”

5. The Rapture – “Miss You”

STYLUST: What 5 tracks are topping your personal playlists for fall?

LEIGH:

1. The Rapture – “How Deep is Your Love”

2. Calvin Harris feat Kelis – “Bounce”

3. Azari & lll – “Manic”

4. Nicola Roberts – “Lucky Day”

5. Beth Ditto – “I Wrote the Book”

GEORDON:

1. Charlotte Gainsbourg – “Terrible Angels”

2. SBTRKT feat. Little Dragon – “Wildfire”

3. M83 – “Midnight City (ALCALA remix)”

4. Gotye – “Somebody I Used to Know (Beni Redub)”

5. Lady Gaga – “Scheiße”

STYLUST: What’s the most amazing gig you’ve played to date, and why?

LEIGH: Once, we had played at an old mansion in Milan where each room had a different theme and art installation…

GEORDON: It was sponsored by a major Italian liquor brand, a famed photographer and a famous Italian designer. One room was all ice, one room all fire, another had models and method actors in couture faking overdoses—and our room was an installation of a classic Italian Disco with a light-up floor. It felt like eyes-wide-shut meets Studio 54 meets Marina Abramovic…

STYLUST: Where do you get your inspiration?

LEIGH: I get inspiration from working with designers and other creative people—just like this season getting to work with bebe and stylist Arianne Phillips!

GEORDON: Definitely from our friends, and New York City as well.

STYLUST: When you hear “bebe,” what comes to mind?

LEIGH: Feminine! Playful!

GEORDON: YA HABIBI! ;)

  2. The goal of exercising is to increase your level of physical fitness.
If you are prepared to recover your younger physique,
or perhaps just drop off a fast ten pounds, then you
need to probably add a regular workout routine into your
daily life. It may begin well enough, but after time you are likely to lost the battle.
