Trend Report: Hot Tropics

•May 15, 2012 • Leave a Comment

With long weekend getaways, beach days and barbecues so close we can almost taste them, our PR girl, Alexis, has hopped on the tropical trend! Check out some of her most coveted island-inspired looks below, and click over to The Lounge for more.

WHY SHE LOVES IT>> “Hello, summer! These playful tropical prints put me in a vacation state of mind.” – Alexis, Senior Public Relations Manager

HOW TO ROCK IT>> Bold tropical patterns feel ultra exotic with earthy straw accessories and espadrilles. Or why not glam up a silk floral dress (or blouse and shorts) with patent peep-toes for a night out? Top off the look with metallic jewelry, throw on a head scarf…even mix a pair of prints if you dare. This look is vibrant and playful, so have fun with it!

Street Chic: 2 Bloggers Style bebe Looks for Summer

•May 14, 2012 • Leave a Comment

This month we invited two fashion bloggers, Cara of A Fashion Love Affair and Katherine of La Petite Marmoset, to style their fave pieces from our summer collection! From pared down and polished to playfully eclectic, read on for the deets on how they rocked their picks.

What’s your most coveted bebe look this season?

CARA – A FASHION LOVE AFFAIR>> Cara’s outfit is a perfect example of how to dress up linen. With a glam necklace and heels, she’s looking coolly fabulous.

HOW SHE STYLED IT>> “The Lilia Dress is such a beautiful, bright coral that I didn’t need to add much to complete the outfit. I wore nude pumps so to not take away from the bold colour, and I added a black statement necklace to get a more dressed up look. This dress would also be perfect with sandals and big sunglasses for a day on the beach!”

GET THE DRESS>> Lilia Halter Dress (SKU 188010, $129, not available on bebe.com right now, but check your local bebe store)

KATHERINE – LA PETITE MARMOSET>> Kara pulls off a daring print mix by keeping the colors complimentary. We love the fun way she combined tropical-hued florals with ikat!

HOW SHE STYLED IT>> “I am in love with these shorts! They are perfect for print mixing—and a nice break from floral-on-floral.”

•May 11, 2012 • Leave a Comment

Sigh, summer! Laying out by the pool, vacationing, margaritas, oversized sunglasses… We can’t wait! With our summer catalog finally out, it couldn’t be a better time to shop for a new wardrobe (particularly one that shows off our skin). Here are 5 fab summer trends from our lookbook that we (around the LA office studio) need right now.

Are you ready to live summer’s long days and sultry nights in little white dresses, flirty one pieces, shimmering crochet, shinning metallics and bold patterned dresses? We are!

BRIGHT WHITES

WHY WE LOVE IT>> It’s the summer’s LBD. Duh. Classy and sexy and always turns heads. We like ours with asymmetric necklines, embellishments and lace.

HOW TO ROCK IT>> Go white on white. Style your LBW with white sandals and accessorize with stacked bangles in exotic patterns and glam metallic clutches.

THE CHIC ONE PIECE

WHY WE LOVE IT>> It’s effortlessly glam and you can easily dress it up or down! Need we say more?

HOW TO ROCK IT>> For a day look go for espadrilles, simple hoop earrings and a hot-hued handbag. For a night look, reach for your metallic sandals, stretch belt, and statement earrings. Also, don’t be afraid to mix patterns with studs and colorblock!

SHOP IT

SHIMMERING CROCHET

WHY WE LOVE IT>> It’s light enough to wear all summer long and goes great with swimwear.

HOW TO ROCK IT>> Try it with white skinny jeans and camis or wear it poolside with cutoff denim shorts and swimsuits.

SHOP IT

SHINING METALLICS

WHY WE LOVE THEM>>They were all over the runways. Absolutely nothing says after-dark chic like a touch of silver, gold or sequins.

HOW TO ROCK  THEM>> We highly recommend pairing sequins with metallic wedges, but if you’re really seeking a wild thrill try them with snake print. Also, be sure to balance your metallic denim with a crisp white blazer or a silky top.

SHOP IT

THE NEW SUIT

WHY WE LOVE IT>> A sleeveless vest and dressy short make it easy to dress up when it’s scorching hot outside. It strikes the perfect balance between casual and dressy.

HOW TO ROCK IT>> Try it with a white button up blouse and a crossbody bag for a day look. Style it with a beaded clutch, metallic wedges and body jewelry (our latest accessory obsession) for a night look. Bonus: The body jewelry looks hot over swimsuits.

BOLDY PATTERNED DRESSES

WHY WE LOVE THEM>> Dresses are our favorite go-to item for any social event. These dresses make a feminine statement without going overboard.

HOW TO ROCK THEN>> Style them by matching accessories to at least one color in your dress to achieve balance. And remember, friends don’t let friends leave the house without accessories!

Red Carpet Commentary: Met Gala 2012′s Hottest Dresses

•May 9, 2012 • Leave a Comment

At the Costume Institute Gala at the Met (the biggest fashion party of the year), we spotted the dramatic, the questionable, but most importantly, the stunning! To do the Met Gala justice, we consulted our go-to red carpet commentator and bebe PR coordinator, Kenna, to dissect the trends and handpick her personal favorite celebrity style moments. Plus, she chose Met Gala-inspired bebe dresses to suit any special event! We need the help…our calendar is bursting at the seams with invites.

Who do you think made the best dressed list?

THE DEEP V

WHY KENNA LOVED IT>> “The stars took the plunge last night in daring low-cut numbers, which we loved! One of my favorites was Camilla Belle in this gorgeous allover embellished, deep V-neck gown. She looked stunningly chic, and I like the wine-colored lipstick she chose, perfect for mixing things up!”

PEPLUM & MERMAID

WHY KENNA LOVED IT>> “Peplum silhouettes are so on trend right now. We’re seeing them almost everywhere! I like that these dresses have corseted tops and mermaid trains to go along with the peplum because it allows you to show off your curves. These ladies opted for fun colors, which is refreshing and head turning.”

THE BACK PLUNGE

WHY KENNA LOVED IT>> “Backless dresses ruled the night at the Met Ball. My personal fave was Cameron Diaz, who was showstopping in this backless silk beaded dress. Talk about iconic Hollywood beauty! The other ladies looked gorgeous as well with lots of embellishments, trains and crocodile, oh my!”

EMBELLISHMENT

WHY KENNA LOVED IT>> Embellishment was a major trend for the stars that night. Whether it was a gown bedazzled in sequins or a train of feathers, the stars were all about it! I think Gisele looks incredible in this ultra-sexy gown with the high slit and her hair pulled back. I mean, who doesn’t love a little sparkle? It doesn’t hurt when you have Tom Brady on your arm either…”

Style Icon: Shailene Woodley

•May 7, 2012 • 1 Comment

Shailene snagged our attention when she held her own alongside George Clooney in The Descendants, turning in an impressive teenage performance. Now 20 years old, she’s already reached starlet status and the fashion demands that come with it! We’re sold on her “innocent with an edge” style.

Would you rock Woodley’s looks?

PURE THING

WHY WE LOVE IT>> Maxi or mini, the white dress has been a Hollywood glam staple since Marilyn’s famous encounter with a subway grate. Shailene nails the interplay between sexy and sweet in a white gown that traces her curves and in sheer lace with a high neckline (and hemline).

HOW TO ROCK IT>> No need to go blinding white if it doesn’t suit you—make like Shailene and try ivory if it’s more your thing. Metallic accessories amp up the goddess glam, while black pumps ground a lacy dress. Hi-Lo Bead Pleated Maxi Dress, Rowen Strapless Feather Dress, Lace Shoulder Bodycon Dress

FLORAL AUTHORITY

WHY WE LOVE IT>> From lace to embellishments to print (love the Descendants nod with the tropical theme!) bright florals are a summer necessity. Plain and simple: these patterns make us happy and get noticed.

HOW TO ROCK IT>> When the print is wild, pare down the rest. Shailene’s flirty textured top with a sleek pony, black skinny pants and futuristic heels are perfection! We’re also fans of the punchy pump that picks up on a color in her island-print sheath without exactly matching.
